Being a part of our events is a fun way to support our cause!
Week-Long Virtual Walk
This fall, the New Beginnings Center is empowering Middle Tennessee to take back its health and join us for our first virtual walk and healthy habits event. Registrants can help fundraise for TNBC, grab a buddy, and complete fun, daily challenges from September 28-October 4.
Your participation and all proceeds benefit scholarships so women in Nashville who may otherwise be able to afford preventative health programs can attend The New Beginnings Center free of charge and take back their health!
COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting minorities and those with pre-existing conditions. An analysis in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, published this summer, found that people with chronic conditions were 12 times more likely to die from the virus than those who didn't have underlying conditions. TNBC addresses not only physical health but also mental health, nutrition education, lifestyle, and behavior change. We know that there is more to health than just physical fitness and address whole-person health.
We're challenging you, your family, and your friends to take back your health! Each day of the week we'll offer up a new healthy habit challenge. Complete that challenge and check-in and you will be entered to will the daily challenge prize for that day. Our emphasis is on small daily changes because small changes in your habit can significantly lower the risks related to obesity and keep you healthier for the rest of your life, and especially during this pandemic.
By registering for yourself and fundraising for New Beginnings you'll gain access to our brand new t-shirts (fundraise $50+) and an extra special grand prize (fundraise $150+).
The Big Payback
On May 6-7, you made a difference. Over 100 donors came together through the Big Payback portal, checks sent in beforehand, employee match benefits, and pledges made to raise over $27,000 to support the health and empowerment of women in Nashville. We are so inspired by your generosity and big hearts! We hope you were inspired by the stories from our clients, staff, and board members.
Why does your support matter more now than ever?
COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting African Americans, low-income populations, and populations with pre-existing conditions (especially hypertension and obesity). All of which are populations we serve.
80% of diseases can be attributed to lifestyle behaviors and are preventable. That is why preventative health care is the future of America!
The health care system would be less burdened during times like these if more money was invested in preventative wellness programs like ours.
The public and health care system would save money if more money was invested in preventative wellness programs like ours – i.e. treat the cause, not the symptoms. New Beginnings saves over a million dollars in preventative health care costs per year!
