Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is New Beginnings?

A: The New Beginnings Center is a place where women can come to learn how to eat healthy, exercise, and improve their health and well-being.

Q: What is the cost?

A: The cost is based on your household income and size. Most likely, the cost will bee $0 or minimal. See our Apply page to find out if you fall within our income limits for full scholarship.

Q: What is the best way to apply for the program?

A: The quickest way to apply is through our online application form available here.  If you do not have internet access you can complete a paper application* at our main location at 509 Craighead Street, Nashville, TN.

*Paper applications are also available to download and print from our website here.

Q: Who can apply for the program?

A: Any women above the age of 18 can apply for the program. There is no minimum or maximum weight for participants. The only requirement is that you are willing to complete the initial 12 week program and follow up with us for one year.

Q: What if I don’t meet the income qualifications?

A: Anyone can apply for the program regardless of income level.  If you don’t qualify for full scholarship to the program we will use a sliding scale to assess a fee.  If you don’t qualify for sliding scale assistance you have the option to pay full price to participate in the program.  This is determined by household income and size.

Q: What additional documents are needed to complete the application?

A: In addition to the application form we will need a copy of your most recent Tax Return (to demonstrate household income and size for financial assistance), and a Dr.s release note (stating that you are okay to participate in an exercise program).

Q: What if I do not have a Tax Return?

A: We will need clear documentation to demonstrate what your household size and income is. Tax Returns are mandatory if available.

Q: What if I am on a special diet - as prescribed by my Dr.?

A: You can still participate in the program if your Dr. approves.  Dr. prescribed dietary requirements are always to be followed.

Q: What if I have a physical limitation?

A: We need to be made aware of any physical complications you may have and we must have a written Dr.s note for all participants.  We are able to make the appropriate modifications necessary to the workout program to ensure you can participate safely.

Q: Do we provide childcare?

A: No.  The New Beginnings Center does not provide childcare.  Due to the great liability of having children in a gym facility we are not able to have children on premises during classes or otherwise.

Q: Is The New Beginnings Center accessible via public transportation?

A: Yes, the New Beginnings Center is a few blocks from the bus stop location on 8th Avenue South, and Craighead Street.
